Strengthening Youth Mental Health

Resilience isn’t a personality trait – it’s something that we can all take steps to achieve.
Taking steps to look after your wellbeing can help you deal with pressure, and reduce the impact that stress has on your life.
This is sometimes called developing emotional resilience. Resilience is not just your ability to bounce back, but also your capacity to adapt in the face of challenging circumstances, whilst maintaining a stable mental wellbeing.”

Equipping Youth Workers To Transform Lives!

#sesaYOUTH is a 5-year, £3m professional capability building initiative, transforming youth development provision to help young people to manage anxiety, and ultimately help prevent the social impact of youth mental ill-health.
This collaborative initiative connects Foundations, Charities and Faith Centres together, helping them establish and maintain a specialist capability for Social Emotional Development Practice.
By 2023, the initiative will provide professional development for 5,000 youth workers, establishing them as qualified and licensed specialists within key UK communities.

5-Year Objectives

By December 2023, #sesaYOUTH will establish a network multi-disciplinary capability:
  • 1,000 full-time & volunteer youth workers within football and rugby club community foundations;
  • 2,000 full-time and volunteer youth workers within grass-roots community charities;
  • 2,000 volunteer youth workers within faith centres’ community outreach teams.

Created for Nigeria in 2012, #sesaYOUTH has evolved into an international community of learning & development for youth workers.

This initiative connects UK youth workers into our #sesaYOUTH professional community, to help them specialise in building youth self-awareness and the social emotional competencies for emotional resilience within their provision; whilst carefully navigating the complexities of early years trauma and special needs.
