Internationally, we need to build the capability for Emotional Safety & Resilience.

Since 2008, our Founder Jay Baughan has been at the forefront of a new social emotional development movement; to equip educators, youth workers and parents to lead the creation of emotional safety around them, and to build emotional resilience in children and young people.
The SESA Community is a dedicated 10-year capability and social emotional development initiative, spanning three continents of the world.
The SESA Story

A World Health Epidemic!

“Scale-up of resources for mental health is not happening quickly enough”.

Dr Shekhar Saxena, Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse tells:
“We know what works. Failure to invest in mental health as a matter of urgency will have health, social and economic costs on a scale that we have rarely seen before.”
The WHO also reports that 30% of the adult mental illnesses identified through their Mental Health Surveys in 21 countries are attributable to adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and developmental trauma issues.
The Global Burden of Disease study indicates that clinical anxiety is a serious global health issue;  youth anxiety has increased by 70% in the past 25 years.
The SESA Community is a dedicated, 10-year response to tackle the rising issue of anxiety-driven mental ill-health; now seen by experts as a global health epidemic.

Our 10-Year Mission

The SESA Community initiative was launched in 2018, following 10-years of design and international development.
It now represents the first, fully independent and dedicated social impact initiative to directly support public and non-profit efforts to tackle the rise in mental ill-health across the world.
By 2028, the initiative will have specifically established a multi-disciplinary capability within education and youth work provision to create emotional safety & help children and young people to build the self-awareness and social emotional competencies for emotional resilience.
The initiative provides THREE dedicated capability building communities:
